Need advice on an ouchie

So my rear deck lid had an accidental encounter with a drill bit tonight. (for those wondering, the drill was intentional, the impact was not). The impact was on the inside of the deck lid so I'm not concerned about that. However, the outside dented outward a bit and the paint seems to have fractured at this site. Not sure what to do about it - I'm not concerned about cosmetics as it is quite inconspicuous, but I do not want the area to rust (if that's even likely). Thoughts?

Best,

I had a similar bulge after closing the lid on something in the trunk. I had a paintless dent repair done and it looks like new. Mine didn’t break the paint however.

Ahhh that's good to know. The dent is barely visible actually. It may just be that Arctic silver is really good at hiding dents, but I've been surprised how resilient the body of this car is to minor damage. I've got a few nasty paint spots like this one and a gash on the fender that aren't enough to make me want to repaint the whole thing but I also don't want to buy an ounce of touch-up paint and make it look like my kids fixed it for me lol.

Hi Ike84, sorry to hear about the episode with your drill. I am new to Porsches as I bought a Boxster a few years ago and I’m constantly in fear of closing the front or back with something too high. I’m told that my paint is original so I’m looking for something that allows me to do small touch-ups. My “studying” has shown Dr.Color Chip to be worth the small investment. Not everyone was happy with it but I’m planning on using it when I have a requirement. If you decide to use it let us know your thoughts on it.
Best of luck.
cheers, Jack

Hey Jack, I've heard a fair number of people recommend that brand but I've never used it personally. I managed to spin my spoiler mount around 180 deg and cover that spot so it's going to stay as is for now.
